U.S. Representatives Robert Aderholt and Terri Sewell stress the importance of Birmingham-Southern College to Alabamaians in a recent op-ed released by AL.com.

Rep. Sewell, the representative of the Congressional District in which Birmingham-Southern College is located, and Rep. Aderholt, a Birmingham-Southern College alum, agree that helping the College achieve financial stability is in the best interest of the State of Alabama.

"We strongly urge Treasurer Boozer to rethink his decision to deny the bridge loan that was designed for this very situation: To help out a college or university in Alabama that brings significant value to its community, has been in business for more than 50 years, has assets sufficient to back the state’s loan, and has a solid plan for paying it back," said Rep. Aderholt and Rep. Sewell.
